NEWSMonarch Mountain Ski Resort Installs HydrationStation for 2010 Ski SeasonBy K. Loos | 10 January 2010 Monarch, Colorado — Six months after installing the revolutionary HydrationStation™ and with the ski season off to a great start at Monarch Mountain Resort in Colorado, staff and guests are pleased and excited with their new HydrationStation. Started in 1939, Monarch Mountain has over 800 acres of skiable area with 54 runs, 5 ski lifts and approximately 170,000 skiers annually. Subsequently, response has been so positive regarding the HydrationStation that “there are times when people are lined up four deep for their ‘polished water’!” says Director of Marketing, Greg Ralph. Monarch Mountain chose to add some additional signage for guests, a cup dispenser to further promote the use of the unit and a reusable container display to help foster the green objective of banning the bottle. The HydrationStation was placed near their recycling station in the main lodge to clearly bring home the point and to make it the obvious alternative to bottled water, “regular drinking fountains don’t make the visual impression that the HydrationStation does. The HydrationStation looks futuristic,” says Ralph. Monarch Mountain is so impressed with the response from guests that they are planning on installing two more HydrationStations in the recycling area. “The HydrationStation fits well with the Monarch company culture. We feel strongly about being a sustainable organization and practice reduction, reuse and recycling in everything we do…it’s the right thing to do.” About the HydrationStation™ The HydrationStation processes tap water into pure water using state-of-the-art filtration technologies, which can be substituted whenever a specification calls for a drinking fountain. Before water reaches the nozzle, it runs through an NSF-certified filter to remove sediment, chlorine taste and odour. The system provides a hygienic, safe source for refilling personal re-usable bottles.
